More PlayStation 3 Info
Anxious PlayStationSkatter Tech reported a few days ago that the Sony PlayStation 3 would have a built in hard drive. This information was partially false. Our source was a Business Week article, which claimed that the PS3 was loaded with some sort of hard drive. According to the PlayStation Global webpage the hard drive is suppose to be sold separately from the unit, which means it is either extenal or somehow goes into the unit. There is no word on this from SCEA yet, but if this is true we should expect that Sony will sell a bundle (aka. value pack) that includes a hard drive.

PS3 = $900
The PlayStation 3Supposedly, Merrill Lynch, investment firm giant, sez that the PS3 will, at launch, cause $900!!! I don't buy it at all. You've got the 360 at $400, maybe less by then, the Nintendo Revolution is rumored to be $250 and then Sony shoves a $900 machine on the market? No one would buy it! Of course, given Sony's recent DRM debacle, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to pull it off...Link

The Betamax Curse
You don't know whether a new consumer format will work unless you try.
UMD, a format developed by Sony for the PSP market, is apparently being put out to pasture. Sales are simply not what were anticipated. Fair enough. There didn’t seem to be a focused plan for UMD.

Plays Well With Others
To test ability to play with others, simply insert GamecubeHe and Xander played GameCube quite a bit. I suspect that it was due to some limited playtime at his house. They played very well (as compared to our next door neighbor who when is over, we have lots of arguments and such). They also had a bit of time outside though it was quite cold so that didn’t last very long (we’ve got a cold wave going on here) where we ran into another neighbor who joined in.

HD For Sony PS3?
According to a new Business Week article, the upcoming Sony PlayStation 3 is supposed to have a built in Hard Drive. The author of the article had a chance to actually test out a BETA unit. He claimed that they were including plenty of internal storage space for storing media content such as music, photos, videos and more…

Poor Sick Bubba
Being sick is no excuse not to play your GameboyTurns out he has Bronchiolitis caused by RSV. Great. Our course of treatment is Breathing treatments with a nebulizer every 4 hours, plus oral Prednisone. He is already battling me tooth and nail to not have to do this, even though at the Dr's office he strapped on his Fish Mask by himself and calmly played the GameBoy until the treatment was done.

More PS3 Information
Ok, now we have to admit that we’re getting a little skeptical about that PlayStation Magazine Xbox Live-killer article leak a couple of days go. A second page appears to have made its way onto the PlayStation forums and has some very interesting details — if a little disparate, unlikely, and even downright dubious. For example, besides a really obvious misspelling of “Blue-Ray Disc” in a headline, the article says making the PlayStation 3 a DVR with media PC-like functionality is a “top priority for Sony” — even though right now we understand it’s only slated to have an optional external hard drive attachment and doesn’t appear to have video inputs. Also, you’ll supposedly be able to control your PS3-DVR with your PSP, send files home to it remotely from your Memory Stick, and that the final hardware kits released to developers in January were even more powerful than originally anticipated.

Gridwars
Checkout GridwarsOk this one is a doozy. If you grew up in the 80’s and think the string of arcade games Williams put out then (Robotron, Defender, Stargate, Joust) represent the finest the form had to offer, you’re going to love Gridwars. It’s actually a clone of a small game that comes with the new Xbox 360, and its spiritual predecessor is William’s Robotron with slight shades of Atari’s Tempest. You need a dual stick controller to really play this, like a usb connected ps2 pad, though you can play using the keyboard. You move in any direction with one pad whilst shooting in any direction using the other. Various geometric shapes spawn and attempt to smash you while techno plays in the background and the screen pulsates with your activity. It’s still in beta but even in its current form it’s essentially perfect. I’ve been completely mesmerized by it since I stumbled across it. Horde those smart bombs, you’re going to need them!

Waiting To Buy Playstation 3
Did someone notify the authorities:
My personal take on the PS3 is that I’m not going to buy one for quite a while. Unlike the PS2, there’s nothing really pushing me to adopt it - I’d rather wait and see how it’s received by the marketplace and wait until the price drops. These days I have so little time for games, I’m still having plenty of fun with my PS2 and don’t need a swiss army knife for my multimedia needs. (And if I did want one, I’d get a Mac Mini)

Love My PSP
I’ve been having a hell of a good time with my PSP. It’s basically the wonderchild of geekdom. Though in it’s most often seen form it’s pretty much just a thingy to play the (crappy) games that are realised for it. Luckly, I only own one game which I can’t play. So… I use my PSP to watch movies, read books, read comix (/me is embarresed), and play old SNES or Arcade games. Ahhh the wonders of homebrew.

Africa MMO
Here's a game vision.
The game began as a lunchtime conversation in January 2005. I found myself seated across from John Sarpong, founder of Africast Global Media and grandson of the late King Prempeh I. He’s an extraordinary man with a powerful vision of Africa’s future. We struck up a conversation about the power of video games to tell stories, convey ideas, and entertain. Wouldn’t it be cool, I mused, to lead a caravan across the Sahara, to visit Timbuktu, to stroll through the Roman ruins at Lepis Magna, and to explore the vast jungles and savannahs of Africa?
