Review: Tri-achnid
Edmund McMillen brings us Tri-achnid.
Tri-achnid is a very innovative game full of gorgeous art and effects, with a ton of technical merit behind the engine. In this game, you play as a 3 legged creature who must escape from harsh conditions in order to find a home for it’s young. The creature can scale almost any surface in the game allowing the players to explore impressive landscapes in their search for survival.

Business Model Judo
Does Microsoft lose money on its Xbox 360Microsoft’s Zune has just been introduced, so it doesn’t cost much to Microsoft to make a payment on each hardware device sold to Universal today, and it will take awhile for its sales to ramp up to a point that such payments cost Microsoft much. Microsoft also hasn’t historically put the same emphasis that Apple has on trying to make money from the hardware (PCs, Xboxs, cell phones); Microsoft is content to make money from its software (Windows, Office, Xbox games, Windows mobile).

You might have to buy your own Playstation 2Can someone explain to me the point of the modern video game?Against my better judgment I allowed my father to purchase a Playstation 2 for the J-Man last Christmas. I have found that, if left to his own devices (which he is not), the child would sit in front of the thing and drool until sometime next month, foregoing food, drink, and probably even Legos in order to stare, hypnotized, at the screen.

Next-gen Console Sale Stats
There has been quite a buzz going around for the Playstation 3 systems selling on Ebay for much higher than standard price. This was to be expected, especially with the shortage of units and the time frame being around the holidays. The same thing happened last year to the 360 and Ebay sales were becoming gigantic — even topping out the current PS3 bids. Now that analysts are saying there could only be 150-200,000 units for the launch instead of 400,000 and retailers saying they won’t fill preorders, a lot of people are going to get ripped off.

Disney Wii Studio
Some background on why Disney is going with the Nintendo WiiSo why pay special effort to support the Wii? The new head of Fall Line Studio, Scott Novis, explained that younger children often find PlayStation and Xbox games technically challenging, with a multitude of buttons to master. The Wii’s simpler control scheme and lower price could make it a more appealing platform for Disney games. “It seems like with our brand, the Nintendo platform is a really good place to put our development effort and focus,” Novis said.
