We Have A Winner
We're just not sure whether we'd want to win an Being a Dot Net Regular Guy must make us lucky. I've been pretty lucky in the past. I've won a Portable Media Center (TechEd 2005), earned a PSP and an Xbox 360 (hooking up a software sale), AND won an Xbox 360 and $400 in Amazon gift certificates (TechEd 2006). However, tonight at the Microsoft Windows Vista and Office 2007 launch event held in Atlanta at the NorthPoint Best Buy, the Schwartz family trumped all of my winnings in one fell swoop. Heidi Schwartz shrieked with joy when her name was called out as the grand prize winner.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Good write-upElder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is the sequel to 2002’s Morrowind, a game whose lack of direction made it a bit of a disappointment for many RPG fans. So what is it about Oblivion that’s raised it above the mire in a saturated genre to be an award-winner and one of the Xbox 360’s biggest-selling titles?

The World Of Citypixel
If there was ever a thought of how one would look like or live in a Pixelated world, this would be it. Citypixel, goes back to basics and it so old school, it goes back to the very essence of what makes virtual worlds great (without needing the heavy computer resources and network bandwidth). It somehow reminds me of the old Japanese arcade games of the 80s I used to play with.

The Nintendo Wii Hype
Some good points for Nintendo Wii playersOThe biggest lure of the Nintendo Wii is that it redefines gaming and playing video games as we know it. The motion sensitive controllers called “remotes” actually can simulate movements in games. For instance, the Wii Sports games that come included with systems that were shipped in the United States fully utilyzes virtual “movement” of the controller for the actual game play. In other words really swinging a bat in baseball or serving a racket in tennis.

Nerdy Day!
How could it not be a nerdy day without Final FantasyToday I had a wonderful day! After laying in bed for a while, enjoying snuggling under my big blanket in a freezing room, I got a call from my friend Brian whose car stranded him on the way up from Austin. After rescuing him, I went with Rebeka to a couple of book stores to find a book on CSS. Afterwards, we decided to stay in at my place. I got her started on Final Fantasy 4 advance for gameboy advance while I played Final Fantasy 3 on DS.

PSP And Me
This blogger liked the PSP a lot after he learned about homebrewOnce upon a time, I was an avid anti-Sony gamer. I wanted as little to do with the Playstation, Playstation 2, or the majority of the titles thereof. When the first news of the Sony PSP was released I shrugged it off as just another flop, and went back to playing my Gameboy Advance SP. There simply wasn’t any company who could possibly fight Nintendo’s stranglehold on the portable gaming market. Truth be told, I was by and large right in this case. The PSP was overpriced, undersupported, and overstuffed with lackluster functions.

Pac-Man 25th Anniversary Arcade Game
Pac-Man fans can celebrate 25 yearsGobble your way through Pac-Land and get warped back to the 80s with this awesome Pac-Man 25th Anniversary Arcade Machine ($2,995) being sold at Brookstone. We’re talking about the game that changed the world, kids. To quote Kristian Wilson, CEO of Nintendo in the 80s: “Computer games don’t affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we’d all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive music.” Do I need to say more?

I Don't Have Enough
DH and I have strong feelings about video games, and have decided not to purchase any for our home. I have no problem with him playing them at other people’s houses, however, and he spent a blissful hour and a half clicking away while his friend’s mom and I chatted about what colors she was going to paint her totally white walls.

Review: World Of ColbertCraft
Stephen ColbertStephen Colbert’s World of ColbertCraft has the same quality, textures, and 3d models that we’ve come to expect from Stephen Colbert’s Escape From Skateboard Mountain. Whether this is a good thing is a matter of some debate.

Swiss Wii
This was an opportunity that the guys at World of Games could not let go un-noticed, so they had a special midnight event (Their first ever midnight event). All starting at 21.00 (6th of Dec), people showed up and got coupon’s for the Wii itself. It was possible to buy games and accessories before midnight also of course. All this took place at the WOG shop in Oberenfelden, Switzerland.

Free Online Games
If you want to play backgammonRecently, I was drawn to playing games online. I am an avid surfer on the web and I discover stuff frequently so I have a HUGE stash of online games, some of which are just played in 3 days and forgotten. Now, I stumbled up playing Backgammon online. In all honesty, I know nothing about it. So I tried to learn through the link in their site called Backgammon School, and it easy enough for me to understand. It is a free software, so I had to try it out.

Stupid Console Owners
A rant about the intelligence of game console owners, including even the Xbox 360But all these issues come down to either idiocy, or ignorance. Either one is unforgivable. An Xbox 360 is not like a regular Xbox. It is not like a Playstation 2. It is not like any other home entertainment console, and they will tell you as much — it is a computer, and it needs airspace like a computer needs. When you put your 360 on your amp in your entertainment center with a blanket on top and a bowl of chili on the side, it is going to overheat. Good for keeping the chili warm, bad for keeping the console alive.

Viva Pinata
I started playing Viva Pinata on my XBox 360 on Thursday. And I’m now waking up in the middle of the night wondering if my pinatas are ok. Am I romancing them enough? Will I have enough whirlms for my sparrowmints? How can I get a bigger garden? How can I get a rare eagleair to visit my garden?

Warcraft Blogging
Starting in January with the release of the Burning Crusade expansion pack and the acquisition of a upgraded non on board 256mb video card (which I picked up on eBay for less than 60 bucks). I’m going to track my progress in and out of game as I descend into what is the world of warcraft. each week I’ll post updated stats and information on my character in game as well as my physical and psychological condition while I ensnare myself in the majesty of Azeroth.
