Buy A DS
An addition to the family of game consoles.
Other than that I also purchased a DS, not that out of character considering I already own a Wii and did have a Gameboy at some point in my childhood. I purchased it without knowing what games I wanted to buy, so I have a DS, sitting, all alone, waiting to be played, touched and used.

The Bleach manga series is now a great videogame.

Nintendo Wins Console Game
The latest console sales figures show Nintendo on top.
Yesterday, the NPD Group released video game hardware sales data for April. Nintendo’s Wii and DS consoles were again the big winners, as both platforms dominated all competitors. This marks the 4th month in a row that Nintendo has nabbed the top spots with its respective systems on the hardware sales charts.

Community Gaming
Is NintendoI think Nintendo will be the first console manufacturer to successfully integrate social-networking with game-play. It’s easy to add a friends console to your address book, which also serves as a method of authentication, then transfer messages, photos, Mii’s… and play games online of course.

Disney Wii Studio
Some background on why Disney is going with the Nintendo WiiSo why pay special effort to support the Wii? The new head of Fall Line Studio, Scott Novis, explained that younger children often find PlayStation and Xbox games technically challenging, with a multitude of buttons to master. The Wii’s simpler control scheme and lower price could make it a more appealing platform for Disney games. “It seems like with our brand, the Nintendo platform is a really good place to put our development effort and focus,” Novis said.

Console Price Wars
Sticking with Nintendo ... for now.
Since the Xbox and the PS3 are likely to stay well out of my budget, should I (a) buy the PS2 at its new and bargain price in a couple of weeks once I’ve saved up the cash; (b) stick with Nintendo and do some serious saving to buy the Wii at the end of this year or the start of next year; (c) stick with the GC and get a memory upgrade for my laptop so I can play better PC games; or (d) just stick with the GC and the handful of games I’ve got for my PC?

Wii IM Call !!M
Wii confusion.
The first two are fairly straight forward. WiiPointer is probably the name of the formally known as revmote, currently known as Wii-mote, Wii controller. With WiiCulture spawning iPod marketing & peripherals imagery in my mind, I am inclined to believe that the name is a label for all things Wii. The most interesting of the three, !!M, is said to be the name of Wii’s built-in instant messenger. That, I think, is a really cool way to name an instant messenger, flip the console’s name around.Try that xBox 360 and PS3!

New Job!
Testing games on a Nintendo DSI got a job right after I was done with school. I have been there a week and I am enjoying it very much. I work at D3 Publisher Inc. in Tempe, AZ. I am a Quality Assurance Tester for games. This past week was training, but this next week starting on monday I will be put on a team to start debugging a new game that is supposed to come out by the end of the month called Flushed Away. It is based off of a movie that Dreamworks is making. I will be testing it on the Nintendo DS handheld system.

Nintendo Awarded Instant Messaging Patent
Will the Nintendo WiiIs Nintendo doing the right thing? Yeah, I don’t see why not. Gamecube lost its appeal to me after being not being able to play online ever, and was part of why I slowly got myself playing PS2 and TRIED to play PC games. (NOTE: My PC = P.O.S. that’s why I say try. It’s not that I don’t want to, I’m just incapable with my hardware as it is). However with the DS it really adds something to be able to play online even with the lame friend code concept. If this is something even better for the Wii and will continue the hype Wii-60 over PS3, power to Nintendo to be able to share the market with Microsoft’s console. But we’ll see what this patent really is for in the future I guess.

My Top Ten Video Games
From a top 10 list of Nintendo games, Super Smash Brothers MeleeSSBM was release soon after the launch of the Nintendo Gamecube. There was a previous version made for the N64 but it’s not nearly as good and I never really played it much. I had played this game before I got my Gamecube and really liked it. It was the first game I got with my Gamecube. Little did I know how much this game would never loose its appeal. The biggest pros about this game are the multiplayer, computer AI, and the dynamics. I still play this game with Johnny and have yet to have someone play who didn’t thoroughly enjoy it. The computer does a couple stupid things but for the most part is very intelligent and very challenging. Probably my favorite part of this game is how much it changes.

Gates Not Moved By Wii Controller
What is the real message behind Bill Gate's WiiSeems to me like he is trying to make up for the fact that the 360 will be the only console without one such controller when the Wii and PS3 launch later this year. Gates also made mention to the failed Sidewinder controller that had motion sensing technology, stating that moving your controller isn’t mainstream for most games. Realistically the failure of Microsoft’s own controller was more due to poor technology and software support then motion sensing being non-mainstream or obsolete.

E3 Reaction: Console Monogamy?
Console monogamy or large bankroll.
E3 is now well underway; each of the three key players have finished their press conference events and revealed their new toys. Sony and Nintendo - and Microsoft, to a certain degree - arguably have a lot riding on E3 this year. Both Nintendo and Sony have new systems on the horizon, and Microsoft faces a challenging holiday season in the face of competition from their two rivals. But the average gamer must ask: Where does that leave me?

Allergies And Pokemon Sapphire
Allergies are a good excuse for playing more Pokemon SapphireI was so incredibly frustrated with FE: Blazing Sword that I totally just gave up on the game for now. Ah well, that’s what I get for playing on hard mode. Instead I restarted my Pokemon Sapphire game. You know I’ve owned that game since like a year after it came out but I’ve never actually beaten it. Same thing with FFTA. I always get near the end and then suddenly lose interest. That’s got to be like some sort of Murphy’s Law of video games or something.

The Black Moon Project
Some NintendoEven less well known, a title developed by Novalogic called “Super Mario’s Wacky Worlds” for the CD-i, which was never fully developed, a lost Mario game. Programmer on the project, Silas Warner comments “Novalogic was seeking work from Nintendo, we had already produced one Nintendo cartridge. A Nintendo sales executive came up with the idea that maybe simple Nintendo titles could play on the CD-i. I suspect he was thinking of some kind of adapter to plug a Nintendo cartridge into a CD slot! But it set off a frantic race at Novalogic. The project was to put a popular Nintendo game, Super Mario World onto a CD-i disk.”

Interesting site devoted to portable gaming, including this comparison of the Nintendo DSUnlike many of these types of features, it also discusses the secondary capabilities of the two handhelds as opposed to just the games available so it gives a fairly good overall comparison. Additionally, unlike many other features of this ilk, it does not lean one way or the other.

Nintendo Revolution A Revolution?
I’ve been quite interested in the Revolution for some time now, since I’m a huge Zelda fan. First big news a heard about it was the controller. It was a pad in one hand with an analog stick on it, whilst in the other you held a remote with buttons, a, b, etc. Well, that was rumour, but it came very close. Now it’s closer to release, Nintendo have showed the controller. It is a remote. An actual remote. I mean, how can it be comfy to hold? It would be so awkward if you were playing metroid prime and you needed to shoot someone and you couldn’t quite stretch your thumb far enough to reach the a button!

A little console comparison for our Hungarian friends.
Vetélytársként 2006 tavaszán jönnek a japánok.

Nintendo Revolution Launch Price: $99?
Sounds like razors and razor blades to me.
“Nintendo may be aiming for a $99 launch price.” Yeah, it’s a dirty rumor, but could it be done? Doing so would put the Revolution in a league of its own, practically excusing it from the next-gen battle. It simply wouldn’t be competing with the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 if it were wearing a $99 price tag.

Catchin' Up
Love those Mario KartThursday night a few of us from work went to happy hour at Chili's. Usually when we go out it is a sausage fest, but somehow I managed to get some females to accompany us for the evening. Hell must have froze over. After shooting the bull for a few hours, the trio of Pat, James, and I decided to go out. We went to Hard Times Cafe, our old stomping grounds for pool. We stayed there forever, Pat got some digits which was very impressive, and then headed back home for an all out Mario Kart war on the Nintendo 64. I ran my mouth and talked so much trash which resulted in a wedgie that ripped my boxer briefs. Thanks Pat!

"I Got Burned"
An awesome NintendoI went out at lunch today and bought a Nintendo DS, along with Kirby Canvas Curse
and Warioware Touched
. They’re both amazing games, which I took full advantage of while waiting for my oil to be changed. A little kid sat next to me with his Gameboy Advance SP and stared in awe at me creating rainbow bridges and achieving “burning” status (the phrase coined by Clayton was, “I got burning!"). Actually, there’s a great Penny Arcade comic that accurately depicts the joy received from playing Kirby. You just don’t know until you play… it’s like flat crack, as Jody would say.

The Next-Gen Consoles Revisited
Good post-E3 post ... I think Nintendo did a very good job of positioning its products once you get past all the hype.
So about a month has passed since E3, and things are looking even more interesting with these new consoles. It turns out that Nintendo isn’t completely behind in the race, as Sony is intending to release the PS3 in Spring ‘06 as well. This is a crucial chance for Nintendo to actually release a console ahead of Sony for once. The rumored specs for the Nintendo machine would put it on par with the XBOX 360; but then again it’s not as if Nintendo has ever let their machines be defined solely by their technical specifications. The N64 and Gamecube both had their deficiencies, but Nintendo was still able to perform some amazing feats with the limited hardware. As an admitted Nintendo fanboy, I hope they take this chance to reclaim some of their former glory.

Nintendo: The Different Approach
Nintendo is playing smart by staying out of the way of Microsoft and Sony:
The next generation of consoles excites me, and I plan on owning all of them. Sony and Microsoft's entries are both vying to be your all-in-one entertainment centre are cool, but I'm just as excited (if not more) by Nintendo's completely different approach. Access to their entire game backlog from N64 and earlier? Most excellent. There are so many N64 games I desperately want to play, yet never had the opportunity to do so. I can see myself spending many hours playing, of all things, Pokemon Stadium.

Nintendo Revolution
Where we grew up, this would be a good thing:
But on the bright side, Nintendo has raised the bar and came up with something nice to look at and clever too. Nintendo announcing the new console called the Nintendo Revolution, so the question is, what happen to the Gamecube? I don't mind the minimalised style of the console, just a nice slick shiny box with blue led glow on the CD rom slot. If is not because they have very limited games available, it definitely will be on my wish list. I don't mind those cutie cuties games from Nintendo, but I just wish they can break the boundaries bit more and away from the old cliched Mario Bros and Zelda. If the Nintendo Revolution doesn't awe you enough, well check out this new little Gameboy Micro by Nintendo too! It's only 0.4inch thick and around 2 inch wide. Well is cute, is pocketsize, but I doubt is playable for the big-thumbers, might end up with Arthritis.

The Best Review Money Can Buy
Who guards the guards?
The idea that shilling for the industry is somehow only unethical if you make a change in a review because Nintendo calls you up and demands it is ludicrous. Part of being a professional reviewer is having credibility. Credibility means that the reader has reasonable confidence that you're not so overwhelmed by the "selfless generosity" of the content producers that your reviews self-redact. Gamespy (and Gamespot, and many other sites who rely on press releases for regular content) self-redact because they know full well which side their bread is...

Official Revolution Details
Finally we have more info on the fabled Nintendo revolution. In the New York Times Perrin Kaplin (Vice president of NoA) has said that the Revolution is “very very sleek” and is no more than three dvd cases in width. It stands horizontally and is apprently smaller than the Mac Mini. It will also beable to use standard DVD media, a hint that it’ll double up as a DVD player and confirmation that the control pads will be wireless.

Review: Yoshi's Touch & Go Totally Unique
Looks like two thumbs up for Yoshi Touch and GoThere's no 3D power coming from this game just the DS's spriting power however like always Nintendo seems to fit the design very well with the game so not having 3D is not a bad thing. This is definitely one of those games where the gameplay is absolutely unique and you are unable to do this on any other system then the DS. Nintendo is finally showing developers some examples of how to put the DS's touch screen to good use.

Nintendo's DS Finally Coming Online
More online portables:
Wouldn’t you know it, Nintendo’s finally announced their plans to bring the DS to the wonderful world of the Internet (which we happen to know a thing or two about). We’re not entirely sure how “broken” the WiFi is on the Nintendo DS as is, but perhaps partly due to buckling under the pressure of the PSP’s online gameplay features and partly due to, you know, listening to customers, Ninny got IGN to build a gaming network for their first wireless online-enabled title, Animal Crossing DS (due November).

Great Interview With Koji Kondo
If you're a real fan of The Legend of ZeldaMark McDonald of 1up.com writes about his trip to Nintendo Headquarters in Kyoto, Japan. Among other things he interviews Koji Kondo, the composer of much of the music for Nintendo’s games, including Mario and Zelda. A must read for a Nintendo fanboy like me.

What's Wrong With 8-bits?
Playing some of the older games like Mega ManPeople go on and on about Halo 2 and Kingdom Hearts and whatever video game is the most recent and flashy. But my passion lies back in a golden age, a time of 8- and 16-bit games on the Nintendo and Super Nintendo consoles. Fortunately, there are fabulous little applications that allow me to play these classic gems such as Mega Man, Star Ocean, Earthbound, Super Star Kirby, and, of course, Super Mario Bros. Yes, the graphics are pixelated and rough, and you don't have the same complex control combinations to master, but the sheer gameplay is just...

Games For Nintendo DS
Here's a good heads up on game availability for the DS, like Madden NFL 2005"Nintendo released their successor to the popular Game Boy Advance called the Nintendo DS (stands for dual screen) on November 21, 2004. With its dual screen and compatibility with those older GBA games, the DS was an instant success. But even with the strong demand, the games are the ones that make the difference. But what's available for this new device?
