Gaming Pathology
A drive backContinuing with the high-speed theme from last night’s post, I made a push tonight to get more old NES racing games into MobyGames. I came to realize I was quite spoiled with the types of racing games I played on the NES and SNES. Games like The Adventures of Bayou Billy, The Mafat Conspiracy, Rad Racer II, RoadBlasters and F-Zero come to mind. These were pretty much “on-rails” where not much could go wrong. These games often involved munitions of some sort, too. So it was somewhat a shock to discover that the NES was capable of hosting more considerate and faithful racing games.

Troddlers On SNES
Here ya' go, TroddlersTo play it, you’re gonna need the SNES ROM for Troddlers (available below) and a SNES emulator. I myself use and recommend ZSNES, but Windows users tend to gravitate towards Snes9X. ZSNES might be harder to configure for newbies while Snes9X looks like any other Windows application.

Backing Up
The worst part would be the SNES ROM collection, for sure.
Repeat after me: MY DRIVE WILL CRASH TOMORROW. Think about that for a second: what would be running through your head if tomorrow you went to use your computer, only to find out your drive bit the big one? There go all your emails, your thesis work, your photos of your girlfriend, your SNES ROM collection, your accounting records. Gone. Could you think up curses in enough languages?

"Working" At Night
A job where you play games? Where do I sign up!
Seriously though, a full time job is exactly what I need regardless of what slave style wages I earn. Working a lot in the middle of the night has tons of great benefits. Not the least of which is that I don't have to deal with people and I'm getting paid to sit on a company computer and finally complete the epic SNES ROM of Super Mario RPG. I love that game too damn much.
