Playing Head Coach
Time to play Head Coach!
Ok, so actually, Matthew wanted to play his new Head Coach game. And I guess, since he paid the money for the PS2, I should allow him to play it. After all, I refused to buy one and we only have these new found musical abilities because he saved his money to purchase it.

Games For Christmas
This blogger's not feeling well, but at least shopping for Xbox gamesSon 2’s presents were dealt with pretty quickly, all in the same shop - two X-box games, a Playstation 2 game, and a computer game. Then Mum and I went for a browse around, which was nice. I’m still feeling yucky and I had to go and sit on the stairs in BHS because I was feeling so grotty. I haven’t a clue what’s wrong, presumably some sort of ‘bug’.

Beep Beep Boop.
You might have to buy your own Playstation 2Can someone explain to me the point of the modern video game?Against my better judgment I allowed my father to purchase a Playstation 2 for the J-Man last Christmas. I have found that, if left to his own devices (which he is not), the child would sit in front of the thing and drool until sometime next month, foregoing food, drink, and probably even Legos in order to stare, hypnotized, at the screen.

I'm Free
The PlayStation 2Na verdade, é um brinquedo velho.

Console Wars '06
With the next generation of consoles coming to market, this blogger thinks Sony might be making a mistake.
I didn’t get an N64 or a Saturn, and the only reason I have a Dreamcast was because someone gave it to me. But I have a Playstation 2, but not an enourmous library of games. Why? Time, and I’m Fussy. I like a game that’s going to take a while, RPGs or action games that have a lot of content.

Review: NFL Head Coach
Good write up on NFL Head CoachYou know the look. The one where Coach Cowher looks so mad that spit is dripping down his chin as he runs down the sidelines to find a ref to yell at. Now that mug is being immortalized on the cover of EA Sports' new videogame, NFL Head Coach.

Return To Silent Hill
The Silent Hill Collection marks the first time the three games have been released together and is perfectly complemented by Christophe Gans’ realisation of the series. “The Silent Hill Collection is a stunning compilation of arguably the most ground-breaking and renowned horror games for PlayStation 2″, commented Martin Schneider, European Marketing and PR Director for Konami of Europe. “With interest in the film certain to be huge, we felt it was right to remind fans of the gaming beginnings of the mysterious Silent Hill and to introduce the games to a new audience ready to enter at their own risk.”

In Love With The Colossus
Very nice write up by a Shadow of the ColossusAfter the plot is opened, you are given the task of defeating the first colossus. The screenshot is a picture of the giant down. And yes, that is you and your trusty horse. This should give you an indication of scale in game. The colossi are huge and more importantly, breath taking. You seem them march towards you, their intent clear. But unless you are brain dead, you will spend every minute staring at them and in complete admiration of every little detail To bring you back to the real world, this game is on the PlayStation 2 and yet shows signs of graphical brilliance. It’s another affirmation of my favorite fact - Good graphics make not a game look good. Art direction is so critical today. I think this is why I still love abandonware.

PS2 Versus Gamecube
I like PS2 for its RPG's (Roll Playing Games). It has better graphics than gamecube and its controllers are okay. Unlike a Gamecube, The PS2 can play DVD's which is very useful if you don't have a DVD player so you can kill two birds with one stone by buying a PS2.

Katamari Damacy
Katamari DamacyOne of the Christmas presents I bought for my niece was a Playstation 2 game called Katamari Damacy. It’s an obscure title, about a year old. I haven’t played myself, but it sounded like the most infectiously original game I have ever heard of in a long time. And in a nice way to get people to buy it, it’s cheap. I got it for $19.99 at retail.

Dragon Quest 8
Good write up on Dragon Quest 8HeHe I love Dragon Quest 8 I think its such a nice mix between a Zelda type game and a Final Fantasy type game. Developed by Square what else do you expect. Well this isn’t my review yet… it will be soon but instead the plot and story line of what I have accomplished thus far. Its pretty interesting… I know I keep tyler informed but for anyone else who cares I shall run you through the story of Virtuoso and his quest with the King.

Katamari
New KatamariI fear knitting may go on hold for a little while…We Heart Katamari is now available for PS2. As soon as I hear the katamari music, chemicals start to fire in my brain, and I’m in a state of excited rapture. Mr. Xls picked up a copy of it at lunch, and tonight we are having a date at home of tasty drinks and PS2. I’ve started making some sketches of my katamari halloween costume already. The royal we, that is me, loves Katamari.

PS2 Playtime
Check this out:
Maybe it’s just summertime or something, but the PS2 is getting a lot more playtime lately. The Xbox and Gamecube are sitting idel. My wife and I are playing Burnout 3: Takedown
. I played Burnout 3 a lot on my Xbox when it was released and picked up the PS2 version because I already had Burnout and Burnout 2 for the PS2 (wanted to make it a collection). The PS2 version has more graphical goodies than the Xbox version, but doesn’t have Dolby Digital support. Oh well. My wife is really into the game now. It’s amazing watching her play.

Game Ratings Nut
Things can get sexy with clothes on, but this is a little silly.
What a loon. In his latest insane streak, he has written a letter to the ESRB. He is demanding that the upcoming Gamecube and Playstation 2 Killer 7 game be given an AO rating instead of M. Why? Because of “full-blown sex sequences”. Which involve fully clothed people. Give me a break. I have seen worse on tv comercials. Anyone, read all about this moron on IGN.com.

Grand Theft Auto XXX
When Congress starts calling for hearings on your product, you know you have a big problem on your hands.
However, Rockstar Games’ argument has been undermined by an increasing number of reports that claimed the sex minigame is in the PlayStation 2 version of San Andreas. Since the PS2 version comes on an unmoddable DVD, it cannot have any content added to it, although cheat codes–created either by the publisher or third parties–can unlock preexisting code on the disc. While devices such as GameShark and Action Replay Max can tweak preexisting variables in system memory with cheats, they cannot inject new models, animations, and/or code into a game.

Review: EA Sports Rugby 2005
Did you break any teeth playing EA Sports‘ Rugby 2005In conclusion, I enjoyed the game enough to have played a couple of matches, some 5 minutes per match-half, others much longer. I give it 8 out of 10, it losing points mostly for the irritating player-switching-choices. Not a game for non-sport lovers, definitely a game for rugby lovers. For the casual gamer that wants to have something more serious than Mario Party 4 on the GameCube and something less bloody than Soul Caliber 2 to play, then this might be something to own, if only for the short bursts of enjoyment one can get out of it, and less so for the long-term enjoyment.

Game Songs
I think we'll see a lot more band placement in video games like DeadsyDeadsy is a band I had never heard of until I bought a playstation 2 and played the freebie game that came with it, Offroad Fury 2. A song by Deadsy titled Gramercy Park was part of the game’s soundtrack and after hearing it over and over I had to find out who they were. Fortunately, the The Edmonton Public Library has a copy of the CD Commencement, on which Gramercy Park was released.

Review: Project Eden
A woman's perspective on Project EdenI am playing a playstation 2 game called "Project Eden." Believe it or not, there are adult women who enjoy video games. I believe this game is considered a survior horror game. I control a team of four people who are a part of a city in the future. There are different levels of the city that are basically built on top of each other. The top of the city is where most of the people live. The lower levels consist of factories, the homeless and gangs. My team has to investigate the violence in a meat factory where some technicians...

The main objective of this category is to give out tips on how to adjust your formation, attack / defense strategy, players’ development, shooting patterns, free kick pattern, settings and many more. Another reason for creating this category is to make sure more people realize that FIFA soccer...

A First Look at Soul Calibur III
The Soul CaliburClick through for entire review. The Soul Calibur Series has proved popular among gamers who look for a balance of realism and fun in a fighting game. No doubt, the coming Soul Calibur III looks to be one of the best fighting games around. As seen in Soul Calibur II, Namco has not failed in producing a high-quality game greatly surpassing Tekken 5, which released in March. Soul Calibur III not only looks good, but feels good (there I said it). The graphics and human-movement emphasize why Soul Calibur III is the game to beat. New changes make the game even more breath-taking.

EyeToy
Very cool device from Sony:
The Sony EyeToy is a USB camera for the PlayStation 2 that acts as a mixed-reality interface, blending and controlling digital settings with a user's environment and body movements. At first glance it may have been easy to write-off the EyeToy as another peripheral novelty destined to go the way of the infamous Nintendo Power Glove (which is looking remarkably retro-chic, BTW :-). But in his talk at Accelerating...

It just gets better.
The graphics are nicer too. Things are refined, more crisp. They are still held back by PlayStation 2's poor handling of anti-aliasing though. With much luck, Gran Turismo 5 will have nice anti-aliasing and more improved graphics on PlayStation 3. Time will tell though.

Bu'wicked Virtual Marketing
Chances are you don't, unless you own a PlayStation 2 and are an avid player of Gran Turismo 4. But there are millions of video gamer ten-year-old kids who positively worship this car, even though it's a Buick. Why? Because it's fast fast fast fast, and stomps Jaguars and Corvettes and Porsches around the world's (virtual) racetracks like nobody's business.

A Plea to the Video Game Industry: Wait!
The Xbox will still be supported of course after the new iteration is released. However, it's obvious where the focus is going to go. This move makes Microsoft look desperate. They want to be first to the market and though it looks like a good move on paper, in execution it's not smart. Many attribute the death of the Dreamcast to its early release. Once Sony starting spouting off numbers on the Playstation 2, DC sales took a major hit (though there were other factors involved).
Maybe it would make sense if sales were declining too, but they're not. Playstation 2's are just now coming back into stock after the holiday season and Xbox's are few in number. Microsoft is again hurting themselves if the rumors are true about their factories prepping the next-gen Xbox instead of putting the current one in stores. The $150-$179 price point is great one for the casual gamers and parents. A system should still have a decent lifespan left by this point. If not, you're only ticking off those who just bought a new system last year.
